the line

we have great neighbors...we really do. i start with that because, well, sometimes i get a little frustrated and today is one of those vent a little days...but as i do it, i have to just laugh, because it is a little funny...

my neighbor has a great yard...she loves to garden. actually, gardening is her life. her yard has a million flowers, and always a new project going on.

the last one, i have to admit, is annoying me. i know that we have 4 kids and there are balls and shoes and toys a little bit everywhere. let's put it this way, its not a garden spot...it's a play spot.

apparently the swingset is an eye sore...so a garden she must put there.
i understand that we leave a mess or two, but to stake it off with large pieces of rusty metal rebarr, well, not a good idea. oh, did i mention it's right next to my swingset where my children play? a possible impalement waiting to happen.
no worries though, because the top of the metal is covered with a pop can. that's gonna work...and they won't pick that up and try to drink out of it at all...not my kids!
i'm annoyed. i'm not gonna lie. those little trees she's planting will be big...and then into the slide ladder. seriously...i can not just move the swingset!

oh well, the kids don't seem to mind...they just play.

maybe that's why jesus told us to be like the little children...you know, not annoyed at the rebarr or the string or the intrusion of objects being planted on my property. the kids, well, they are just thrilled to play on the swingset, get into the muddy mess, jump ove the strings and test the boundaries of me and the neighbor...

maybe i should be a little more like the kids...that's it...i'm gonna go slide right now!!!

november is national adoption awareness month

does your heart strings pull thinking of the kiddos who are in foster care who need a little support? are you not in a place to become a foster or adoptive parent? is parenting not your calling? well, there are children in the foster care system who need support and someone to represent JUST THEM and their feelings and needs in the court system. those people are called guardian ad litems.
anyone can become a guardian ad litem...it takes 30 free hours of training and a love for supporting kiddos during a very hard time in their lives. as a foster parent, GAL's are such a blessing. the children know they are working for them and that is something that is consistant in a time where almost nothing is. and you then become an advocate for a kid who has almost no voice in the system.

want to know more about becoming a guardian ad litem? since every state has it's own requirements, google "how to guardian ad litem" and then your state to and find out more.

looks like your little swing house will soon be a tree house. Sorry about that. It is very close to the swings.

Hmmmm. I'm trying to think of a clever remark but all I can come up with is SERIOUSLY? Rebar next to the swingset? Not to add fuel to your fire my friend, but that is pretty inconsiderate of your neighbor. Sorry about that. I'm going to come up with some crafty solution for this...maybe we can cut up some pool noodles to put over the rebar??? We could color coordinate them to match her garden. OOOH! Or the girlie pies could turn them in to pieces of artwork - foam padded safe artwork. LOL OK, I need to cut off the coffee,

Oh deary....perhaps just an opportunity to put up a nice TALL wood fence for you?! LOL :-) Well hey - at least she was thinking of safety (pop can) right?!

Have a wonderful weekend, friend!!

Kinda looks to me like she's planning on building a cement wall around it to make a planter? That's why you put rebar there. Right?

Well, so sorry about that! It is a little weird that you guys don't have fences in between your properties, but then again, I'm from California. :)

How do you make all of your pictures so beautiful? What do you use to edit them?

that is going a little far.

And I often feel bad for our neighbors b/c our yard is a mess. Always has been. Always will be.

Sliding smoothes away a lot of life's little imperfections.

(Just between you and me, I don't blame you for your annoyance).

Yes, we do need to be like little children. but my job as a Mama is to make sure my child doesn't kill herself while being an innocent child. I'd be upset too. I'm guessing this woman doesn't have kids or her kids are long gone and grown? A mama with little ones wouldn't do that. sorry.

That would be hard to accept. I give you lots of credit for trying!

Good lesson but I'd be hard pressed to ignore that too!

Actually, those look like Arborvitae and they don't grow very large at all. Maybe 4-5 feet and they don't really spread. I tried to enlarge the pic, but it didn't get very big. If they are, you don't need to worry about it invading your swingset at all.

However, I think I'd talk to her about the rebar. My guess is she didn't even think about it at all.

random acts...GNO

over at GNO, there's a few of us who decided to challenge ourselves last week to perform a random act of kindness.   i talked with my girls and hubs about what we could do... we reserve some funds each month out of our giving to put towards a current or urgent need that we find.  i think it's important to let the kids see how we give as family...and they should be part of that decision too . as we were talking, and eating chinese...come on, you know there would be eating...i open my fortune cookie.  and this is it!! i was out getting a few minutes of alone time and decided to pay hubs forward by getting jiffy lube to do the oil change.  while i was there, i remembered how hard it was being a single mom.  i remembered that the little things, like oil changes, suddenly became bigger things and honestly, more expensive things.  *light bulb!!!* thomas rang me up for my oil change and asked if they had any scheduled appointments that i could pay for.  he looked at me a little odd...

sadness

on the way home from DD {{bc apparently there was NO preschool today for jk...it's no prob, really...we just rushed around and scrambled and got in the car and then when we got there and there was no school...well, there were tears...thus DD}} , there came a moment of sincere sadness in my heart. jk: " mommy, i want to look like brookie" "why sweetie? you are the perfect jada" jk: "i don't like my brown skin. i want peach skin like brookie" i just sank. does that not make ur heart want to break? a 3 yo is struggling already with her skin being different. then, this happened: brooke: "jada, god made you and he loves you. he does it all right the very first time" then, i think my heart grew three sizes . jada threw a big smile up on her face and said, "ok. god loves me" now, if we all could just do that. god loves us...he doesn't make mistakes...he makes perfect works of art. sometimes there are scratches in the art.

tuesday tribute---for tuesday

go blog yourself has been on my reading list for quite sometime...and so i really came to love little tuesday whitt and her whole sweet fam and became involved in praying for them in tuesday's battle with that stinky neuroblastoma . tuesday's parents are totally amazing...they inspire me! although tuesday went to play with jesus not so long ago, there have been so many people that are changed because of the courage and strength and honesty of the whitt family. on the day of celebration of tuesday's life, a number of folks who couldn't make it out to the funeral, took their kids on a 'wagie ride', which was one of tuesday's fav things. we all posted up our pics...shared our experiences with each other...and hugged our kiddos a little tighter. my kiddos wagie ride is here . from that precious little tuesday and her honorary wagie ride, a blog spawned...of course...and it is dedicated to nothing more than, in their words, "to keep track of lives touc
