i hear a lot that ryan and i are just amazing people because we have adopted and have fostered children...the truth is that we are selfish in a lot of ways.
when you want a child...you want a child. i mean, most of us think biologically out of the chute, but a child is a child. you have no more control over medical concerns or genetics or due dates whether you adopt of biologically birth a child...

we wanted more children.
we adopted.
period.
i hate to make it sound so simple, but, and i'm gonna throw out frigg
in' hand grenade here, it was. now, the process wasn't, but the actual, "ok, let's have a child" thing was that simple. the biggest difference i've seen is that having kids biologically, well, let's just say you can't decide simply over a nice meal and bottle of wine...

sure there are background checks and paperwork and financials, but if you want that child, you'll do it...and it's just different stuff than you do with a biological child. you get all prego in paperwork and still keep the girlish figure!

i love this campaign from the children's bureau via adoptUSkids...it's called, now you may wanna sit down for this, "you don't have to be perfect to be a parent".

so i just wanted to say, you really don't have to be perfect to be the perfect parent to a kid who would love to put up with you...it's just a thought
want more info on adopting, go HERE or drop me a note...i'll talk your ear off!

november is national adoption awareness month
one of the biggest myths i hear is about adoption NOT being affordable...brooke's adoption was private and cost about $17,000 when all was said and done. the US gov't gave us a $10,000 tax credit towards those expenses the next year...and we received $5,000 pre-tax from work on an adoption assistance payout...so in the end, we really only had less than $5,000 to cover on our own...and we spend $40,000 on a new car without blinking.
interested in the national averages and the difference in pricing for US, international and foster care adoptions, well go HERE and take a glance.
and don't try and be all perfect and stuff. :)

I too thought private adoption was expensive..and you're so right when you say, "we spend 40,000 on a care without blinking an eye"
