u asked..i answer, part {how do you say three in french?}

my bud, michelle at big blueberry eyes, asked...if money were no object what is your dream vacation? where would you and what would you do?

well, i would always go where there was a beach, few people, good food and lots of sunshine. give me the beach and a cute little sippy sip of diet coke, iwth a funky umbrella in it, of course...and i'm set! hawaii would be great...but i'm up for any good beach. got any suggestions?

a form of therapy asked, what made you decide to adopt/foster children?
i grew up in an adoptive fam...after my little bro, matthew, died in 1974, i was 5 and an only child for a year. seems i was too spoiled and getting too much attention {a diamond ring and motorcycle in 1 year, come on..it was all love}. whatever!
anyway, mom and dad felt the call to adopt...long story short. after looking at piles of books at the welfare agency, mom fell madly in love with jeremy's chubby face and eyes...and the rest is history. jeremy was 26 months old...and we were an adoptive family.
{odd enough, in the end, jeremy was short and stocky just like the rest of us...hmmmm...maybe it was the water...or donuts}
when ryan and i met, we had always discussed adoption...there are so many children who need homes. god perfectly orchestrated each of our two adoptions...amazing stories! {another post}
brooke was adopted at birth...ryan and i took brit through her pregnancy {she was a scared 13 year old girl} and we birthed with her. brit became one of us...she's just another one of our kids.
{this is precious brit and me...and brooke in utero}jada actually came to us initially as an adoption and when birth dad got a bit scared, her bio parents asked us to foster her until she was available for adoption through foster care. and 3 1/2 years later, lots of ups and downs, 11 other foster kids {HERE}, we adopted jada.james 1:27 says, "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."

and from tutu's bliss, so I know you're fabulous at blogging, photography, crafting, man wrangling and mothering so fess up...what are you "not so good" at?

first, i am really bad at lots of things. i hate exercise...and i love to eat. don't even try and tell me i can't do something...i will do it just to spite you. and i have a teeny weeny problem with patience. i don't answer my cell if i'm doing anything at all...and my friends hate it! i'm totally a type a...need to plan and plan and make a list and plan. i should be more fervent in my devotional time. i can not make a fried egg without getting it to stick all over the pan...no matter what. and i'm terrible at details when it comes to things i don't care that much about...weird, but true.
oh, and i can talk too much. *squeal*

from columbia lily at the dark side of the chalkboard...what is the most important thing someone who is considering adoption should know?

adoption is not an alternative, it's a lifelong decision, just like pregnancy. in adoption, there are many more mountains and valleys than pregnancy. go HERE and HERE for some adoption tidbits. and HERE for linky's for adoption questions and sources. and always, always ask as many questions as you wish.
and when society views your situation as "different", you will always be different...and you must embrace it! weird is the new normal around here folks!!!

oh and please, please asksome more questions.

I puffy heart adoption. Thank you for answering questions and being honest.

In addition to our two miracles through adoption, I'd like to consider foster care one day. Any advice on that?

Thanks for sharing that. I'm feeling all the emotional ups and downs right now and when I feel like giving up at times, I read your blog and it helps. I cry and release the emotions and am able to continue on. It's not an easy journey, but one I'm not going to give up on or will ever regret!

p.s. Loved the "baby" pic of brooke and the baby pic of jada

Great post...love your openness. I'm like you with the type a needing to plan, but also a slacker with details for things I don't care too much about.

I do the same thing w/ my cell phone and get a lot of jeers for this. I figure if it is important they will leave a voicemail and I will return their call when I can, fair enough. I also tell most people just email, I will get back with you quicker!!! :-)

Okay, here's my question, and it is very important, deep and will take lots of thinking...:-)

What is your oldest piece of clothing/accessory? Why do you love it? What do you think all women/mom's should have in their wardrobe?

You have such a beautiful family and I agree with you that God had a plan in putting it together for you. I too have a hodge podge of a family that I like to describe as a jigsaw puzzle. They may seem like crazy pieces but they fit together beautifully to make a family!

-side note a bit of anger to think a 13 yr old girl, how scary so glad she had wonderful support in you!

random acts...GNO

over at GNO, there's a few of us who decided to challenge ourselves last week to perform a random act of kindness.   i talked with my girls and hubs about what we could do... we reserve some funds each month out of our giving to put towards a current or urgent need that we find.  i think it's important to let the kids see how we give as family...and they should be part of that decision too . as we were talking, and eating chinese...come on, you know there would be eating...i open my fortune cookie.  and this is it!! i was out getting a few minutes of alone time and decided to pay hubs forward by getting jiffy lube to do the oil change.  while i was there, i remembered how hard it was being a single mom.  i remembered that the little things, like oil changes, suddenly became bigger things and honestly, more expensive things.  *light bulb!!!* thomas rang me up for my oil change and asked if they had any scheduled appointments that i could pay for.  he looked at me a little odd...

sadness

on the way home from DD {{bc apparently there was NO preschool today for jk...it's no prob, really...we just rushed around and scrambled and got in the car and then when we got there and there was no school...well, there were tears...thus DD}} , there came a moment of sincere sadness in my heart. jk: " mommy, i want to look like brookie" "why sweetie? you are the perfect jada" jk: "i don't like my brown skin. i want peach skin like brookie" i just sank. does that not make ur heart want to break? a 3 yo is struggling already with her skin being different. then, this happened: brooke: "jada, god made you and he loves you. he does it all right the very first time" then, i think my heart grew three sizes . jada threw a big smile up on her face and said, "ok. god loves me" now, if we all could just do that. god loves us...he doesn't make mistakes...he makes perfect works of art. sometimes there are scratches in the art.

tuesday tribute---for tuesday

go blog yourself has been on my reading list for quite sometime...and so i really came to love little tuesday whitt and her whole sweet fam and became involved in praying for them in tuesday's battle with that stinky neuroblastoma . tuesday's parents are totally amazing...they inspire me! although tuesday went to play with jesus not so long ago, there have been so many people that are changed because of the courage and strength and honesty of the whitt family. on the day of celebration of tuesday's life, a number of folks who couldn't make it out to the funeral, took their kids on a 'wagie ride', which was one of tuesday's fav things. we all posted up our pics...shared our experiences with each other...and hugged our kiddos a little tighter. my kiddos wagie ride is here . from that precious little tuesday and her honorary wagie ride, a blog spawned...of course...and it is dedicated to nothing more than, in their words, "to keep track of lives touc
