not me monday

a few things me and the fam DID NOT do this week:

jada DID NOT analyze our fam via sponge bob: mr crabs is hubs; i'm sandy cheeks; any baby on the show is sofia; spongebob is brooke; patrick is jada; mr crabs daughter is paige. pretty funny.

hubs was NOT gone for 6 days this week in paris...and i was NOT flipping jealous. he was NOT staying almost at the base of the eiffel tower. i am NOT bitter. really.

hubs DID NOT bring back eiffel tower gifts for the girlies...p a t-shirt, jada a gold {gaudy} necklace, brooke a red paris purse, sofia a pink stuffed eiffel tower...and me, i DID NOT get a super fab paris purse.

sofia DID NOT get meds for her icky sickies...apparently she DID NOT have an ear infection and a stint of the flu. she is NOT feeling much better.
we DID NOT get 4 snow storms this week...i DID NOT start shoveling every time and was NOT interrupted by my fab neighbor who cleared the path every single time with his truck. i was NOT uber thankful!

there is NOT less than 50 days until my feet hit the sandy beach again! wooo hooo!

jada DID NOT lose her "special treats" priviledge on friday morning right before the trip to b's class for the valentine party. it was NOT torture bc there were NOT plates of cookies and cake and a super enormous fruit juice for each child there, even the sibs. it also was NOT the best punishment bc it really made a mark.

b and jk were NOT part of p's final 5-step photography project for school where she was NOT taking movement shots of the girlies jumping on my bed. they were NOT thrilled...and DID NOT enjoy it sooo much!

hubs DID NOT get treated to entertainment one night in paris that included some dude drumming...then the exec and sales guys drumming along too. he DID NOT send along a soundbite to me...and i was totally NOT bored.

paige and i DID NOT make and eat fresh brownies saturday night while waiting for hubs to get home from paris...we DID NOT eat too much chocolate that was uber delish. hubs DID NOT come in the door and partake of the brownie goodness too!
brooke DID NOT tell her teacher {at the friday valentine party} who recently had her ACL reconstructed to "have a seat please. i'm afraid you are doing too much. you had better take a rest." her teacher DID NOT turn, laughing and tell me. i was NOT proud of her empathy...and DID NOT laugh at her humor!

As I was reading this, claire came up and liked looking at your girlies. She was all, "Oooo, look at those purdy girls."
Your blog is beautiful and so is your family! I believe you are definitely one strong, amazing mom for being consistent with your discipline when Jada lost her 'special treats privilege' before the Valentine party at school. Most mom's would have caved!

Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day. I hope you'll come by again soon! I will be back to visit you for sure.

Have a wonderful week!

tuesday tribute---for tuesday

go blog yourself has been on my reading list for quite sometime...and so i really came to love little tuesday whitt and her whole sweet fam and became involved in praying for them in tuesday's battle with that stinky neuroblastoma . tuesday's parents are totally amazing...they inspire me! although tuesday went to play with jesus not so long ago, there have been so many people that are changed because of the courage and strength and honesty of the whitt family. on the day of celebration of tuesday's life, a number of folks who couldn't make it out to the funeral, took their kids on a 'wagie ride', which was one of tuesday's fav things. we all posted up our pics...shared our experiences with each other...and hugged our kiddos a little tighter. my kiddos wagie ride is here . from that precious little tuesday and her honorary wagie ride, a blog spawned...of course...and it is dedicated to nothing more than, in their words, "to keep track of lives touc...

random acts...GNO

over at GNO, there's a few of us who decided to challenge ourselves last week to perform a random act of kindness.   i talked with my girls and hubs about what we could do... we reserve some funds each month out of our giving to put towards a current or urgent need that we find.  i think it's important to let the kids see how we give as family...and they should be part of that decision too . as we were talking, and eating chinese...come on, you know there would be eating...i open my fortune cookie.  and this is it!! i was out getting a few minutes of alone time and decided to pay hubs forward by getting jiffy lube to do the oil change.  while i was there, i remembered how hard it was being a single mom.  i remembered that the little things, like oil changes, suddenly became bigger things and honestly, more expensive things.  *light bulb!!!* thomas rang me up for my oil change and asked if they had any scheduled appointments that i could pay for.  he looked at me a little odd......

A lesson in NOT BEING STUPID

What NOT to say to an adoptive family... Any of you all that know us know that we are an adoptive family...and for those that don't just look at our pic.  It will be obvious.  We are different sizes and shapes and colors.  That's why we call ourselves the "motley crew".  I know, pretty funny. Here's the deal...a few things that I don't need strangers to say to me, or tell me: 1.   I know that I'm white and my #3 daughter is brown.  I live with her.  Your revelation is not mine.   2.   Yes...some of my kids don't look like me.   3.   My kids have ears and are old enough to understand the stupid things you say.  So don't say "where's she from?"  I might have to kill you if you do.  Consider yourself warned. 4.   Just because an AA kid is adopted, doesn't mean they are from Africa.  Look around...here in the US we have AA people too. 5.   Don't ask me which of my kids are my REAL ones.  Clue...we are all real and so are you.....
