walking the dog

confession: i really don't like the annoying factor of our dog.
she barks at everything. chases kids in bicycles if she's outside. she's a princess, apparently, bc pooping in the grass is too much effort at night and she prefers the deck so her pawas don't get wet. {stupid dog}

she's a poodle, so it's just one more woman in the house with a nasty attitude and opinion...but she tosses it out by peeing on the floor or pooping where i'll step in it {eeewww} and scream.
poodles are like rebellious teenagers.

but brooke loves the dog. when i say love, i mean loves with a real deep love. she prays for the stupid dog all the time...which may explain why she's still alive!

brooke has a connection with gabby...which i don't understand. gabby is annoyed by her...a lot! she nips at her bc she's old...she doesn't love and cuddle her...but she does pay attention to her when there are treats involved.

brooke has been taking gabby on walks...which in reality are "pulls" more than "walks". and brooke thinks they are great. gabby hacks up a lung the whole time and then dives into the water bowl...and both are happy and satisfied.

what do you do when the dog is annoying and making messes and just takes more time away from what little time you have? i don't know...i guess i'll send her on more "walks" with brooke.

lol, this reminds me when I lived with my mom and we used to own a dog. She thought it would be great to get a puppy for my little sister, a golden lab. He turned out being more work than she thought, and when we moved Hunter didn't make the move with us. My mom told my little sister dogs stay with the home, and whoever was going to live there next would take care of him. I know this is unrealistic for you to do, but I thought I'd share the story. A little ramble to show I care, and read your blog. :)

I am a huge fan of lecturing the dogs loudly and long. While it does nothing to improve the situation, it does make me feel better. I'll also send a particularly annoying one to spend a few hours in the outside kennel, but that's more to preserve it's life than anything.

Hopefully she'll outgrow it. ??? I'm hoping my Bandit will too.

I keep getting pop-ups when reading your blogg to log onto various links, like Twitter and Australian adoption.

Yeah....and it's not like you want to make your 4 year old pic up dog poo in fears of making things worse, or better yet - getting sick because they got it under their nails.....having a dog and kids is like adding two more KIDS to the mix because unlike kids, dogs seem to always have "accidents" right where you always walk....but for some reason, we still love them, or, at least I do. :-)

haven't you hit her with the car "on accident" yet?

Those are GREAT pictures of Brooke with her dog. I too am not a big dog lover and my kids have been asking for one for as long as I can remember but guess what? Just found out today my middle child is allergic to them!!! Oops that came across like I was happy about that news...:-)

Also explains why he has sneezing attacks after we leave grandparents house!

Cute pictures. We don't have any pets, so I am no help. Good luck with that:)

I love that last picture, you can really see their true relationship.

I think its precious that brooke has taken such an interest in the dog and I'm sure the dog really likes brooke - she just can't show it or that would ruin her 'poodle' exterior! :)hehe
As for me...I'd moan and groan about the dog, but I'd keep putting up with it as long as my kids are happy...I'd put up with most anything.

Love the pics! Nothing can be worse than taking my dog for a walk! I actually wrote about it today!

Put bells on your dog knob--ring them and take the dog out and say go potty---do this s few times and give a special treat like cheese or hot dogs--it will only take a couple of days and she will be trained- good luck

I love that they bark when the hubby's gone so I feel more protected, but when they bark all the freekin time, I want to smack the crap out of 'em!!

Ahhhhhh, the life of puppy parents.
