what's in a name...

what's in a name? well, trouble, when it comes to paige...
not in a really bad way, but in a "destructive" way. some things never change, you know...

paige was "that" kid...the one that followed directions the first time. almost never had to be reminded of rules anywhere. she was polite and darling, looking very much like a precious moments little girl with her big brown eyes and her toe head blonde hair.

one thing...the one thing that paige did {okay, there were two...but more on that at a later time} was write her name on everything!

my handmade natural, unfinished leather couch...scratched her name right in the side of it. then, said she didn't do it. hello...your name was the clue.

the bathroom wall...lysol-ed a big arrowed heart with "her bio dad's name + mom"...then said she never touched the lysol. the smell didn't evacuate for 3 months...and we had to repaint the wall in the end to cover it up.

so you know that when ryan was installing carpet on the steps on sunday and he came across this...he was delighted and grabbed the camera:

and, she admitted to doing it! so some things are starting to settle in.

so proud of herself, she even asked for a shot of her masterpiece.
{don't you love trashed garage? great background}
so, if dr. phil is right, and the past is the best predictor of the future, i am predicting that when paige has her own place, there will be a zen/carpet-garden rake in her living room to scratch her name in the rug when she gets the hankering. future husbands...beware.
{it's really stinking cute, though, isn't it?}

Oh now that is just hilarious and SO cute! What a beauty she is too! I think it shows self confidence and pride in her name and who she is...now watch, in a few years you will start seeing, "I love...so and so..." I wrote, "I love..." on folders, papers, the inside of a closet, etc...luckily this habit is easily outgrown! hee hee :-)
Aren't kids great?! I've got one who also love to jot down her name or a nice picture on any surface.... course she's 4! :)

That is too funny. She does look very proud of her accomplishment & yes, it does look pretty cool.
Atleast she is not writing I love... everywhere. I can definitely wait for those days.

Oh my goodness, so cute!! I used to do the same thing. Not on the couch or anything, but I wrote my name on everything I could! :)

I love it! My daughter has a small zen garden and rakes her name in it all the time!

Paige is a creative soul!

Too funny! Part of my post has the same line, "what's in a name!" Great minds think alike!

And that is cute!

You warned all future prospects so you've done all you can do. ;)

My Wild Child could be Paige's name writing twin. She has carved her name into the wall in the bathroom next to the toilet, she has written it on a silk lamp shade, and the list goes on.

She's like a little puppy marking her territory--but in a much cuter way!

That is too funny. Remind me if ya'll ever come to visit to hide all sharpie's, pens, crayons, etc. That way I won't have a souvenier with "Paige was here." LOL I guess she could write on the sofa though...Ryder has already got a hold of that one. :D

That is cute. I bet she will do that. At least she doesn't do this with a permanent marker on anything and everything.
It is totally stinking cute! Funny about the lysol, too. :)

Very stinkin cute.
i need to talk to her. when i was young? I would scratch my BROTHER's name on stuff, not mine. Then, I could blame him. However, the time I spelled brain instead of Brian, I was caught. Silly me.

tuesday tribute---for tuesday

go blog yourself has been on my reading list for quite sometime...and so i really came to love little tuesday whitt and her whole sweet fam and became involved in praying for them in tuesday's battle with that stinky neuroblastoma . tuesday's parents are totally amazing...they inspire me! although tuesday went to play with jesus not so long ago, there have been so many people that are changed because of the courage and strength and honesty of the whitt family. on the day of celebration of tuesday's life, a number of folks who couldn't make it out to the funeral, took their kids on a 'wagie ride', which was one of tuesday's fav things. we all posted up our pics...shared our experiences with each other...and hugged our kiddos a little tighter. my kiddos wagie ride is here . from that precious little tuesday and her honorary wagie ride, a blog spawned...of course...and it is dedicated to nothing more than, in their words, "to keep track of lives touc...

random acts...GNO

over at GNO, there's a few of us who decided to challenge ourselves last week to perform a random act of kindness.   i talked with my girls and hubs about what we could do... we reserve some funds each month out of our giving to put towards a current or urgent need that we find.  i think it's important to let the kids see how we give as family...and they should be part of that decision too . as we were talking, and eating chinese...come on, you know there would be eating...i open my fortune cookie.  and this is it!! i was out getting a few minutes of alone time and decided to pay hubs forward by getting jiffy lube to do the oil change.  while i was there, i remembered how hard it was being a single mom.  i remembered that the little things, like oil changes, suddenly became bigger things and honestly, more expensive things.  *light bulb!!!* thomas rang me up for my oil change and asked if they had any scheduled appointments that i could pay for.  he looked at me a little odd......

A lesson in NOT BEING STUPID

What NOT to say to an adoptive family... Any of you all that know us know that we are an adoptive family...and for those that don't just look at our pic.  It will be obvious.  We are different sizes and shapes and colors.  That's why we call ourselves the "motley crew".  I know, pretty funny. Here's the deal...a few things that I don't need strangers to say to me, or tell me: 1.   I know that I'm white and my #3 daughter is brown.  I live with her.  Your revelation is not mine.   2.   Yes...some of my kids don't look like me.   3.   My kids have ears and are old enough to understand the stupid things you say.  So don't say "where's she from?"  I might have to kill you if you do.  Consider yourself warned. 4.   Just because an AA kid is adopted, doesn't mean they are from Africa.  Look around...here in the US we have AA people too. 5.   Don't ask me which of my kids are my REAL ones.  Clue...we are all real and so are you.....
