u asked..i answer, part deux

random questions from you all crack me up...here's another installment

from my super fav carrie at oikology 101,
how did you and hubs meet?
in my former life (prior to SAHM), i was a professional. yep, it's true. stop laughing. i am degreed engineer. stop laughing. seriously! i was working on a project (OnStar) doing the mechanical integration and design, and was talking with a coworker/teammate, who shared a cube with this super hot and dreamy student intern. yep...hubs is def 5 years younger than me.
bob had asked about how my newborn (paige) was and i proceeded to tell him...and give him the rundown on how i had an emergency csection and i thought the OB wasn't focusing bc he was tlaking about james taylor and asking me which CD i wanted to listen to...if i liked this song or that song. and i freaking EXPLODED on him, right there in the OR, said, "are you doing what you are supposed to be doing?" to which OB doc replied, "there he is..." and i said, "oh my gosh. a boy." to which the doc said, "nope...i meant the baby...haven't seen that part yet. oh, well, you have a beautiful baby girl." and btw, 'you've got a friend' is what was playing...
so after the story, i notice the hot intern kid, but notice he's a stinking kid. blew it off...although he was cracking up at me. that is how we met.
about 2 years later, i was divorced and working in telematics still and the hot intern was a full time engineer on my program...and we hung out with lots of the same friends and traveled on a few business trips...and then he kissed me in his pool one day. the end. love!

and my awesome friend, kacey at chronicles of a mommy:
If you had to choose between ONE naughty food indulgence - McDonald's fries or any candy bar - for the REST of your life, what would it be? The FRIES or the CANDY BAR?

this is just mean, kacey!!! i have major food love...but i'm not gonna lie that chocolate will almost always cure what ails me. and i know that's sad, but it does. so if i were picking my fav, i'd go dove chocolate...and then i'd head to mc d's for some fries and salt!

from cublicle's backporch :
What would the High School You have said you'd be doing at your current age?

first, you know i was stinking HOT in high school...NOT!!! 1987, my friends...that's all i have to say!my senior newspaper says, "Favorite Saying - That's my boyfriend; Bears!!!; . . and John, you know I can't swim; Pet Peeve - People who can't laugh at themselves, gum chompers, Future Plans - Go to XXX university, grow with Dana and eventually become a Mrs."

well, not too bad...i did go to college...dumped dana...picked up another not so fab man...married, baby, divorced...found the super fab man. love the super fab man. 3 more babies. so i guess all in all i did "become a mrs." does it count that i did it twice and not with the guy i said? it's high school...give me a break.
total side note...i'm sure the "and john, you know i can't swim" must have been hysterical in hs, but i have no freaking idea what i means now.
and i still don't like people who can't laugh at themselves...they are too uptight. get a life.

please don't hold my stupidity against me...another u asked i answered coming soon. got more questions, i will do my best to answer them.

I love that you traumatized your dear hubbs with a birth story at your very first meeting. Classic.

And chocolate does cure everything. Period.

Adore this post. Not only did it confirm my suspicion that you were super fab in highschool and had great, great love for your curling iron, as EVERYONE did in the 80's, but you are a smarty pants. Hello...engineer!

Move to California so that we can be neighbors and chat more. It will be fun. I swear.

Love your "how we met" story and your HS picture? Priceless! =D Paige really looks like you in that picture. Obviously not the 80's hair and fashion but your facial features. =)

random acts...GNO

over at GNO, there's a few of us who decided to challenge ourselves last week to perform a random act of kindness.   i talked with my girls and hubs about what we could do... we reserve some funds each month out of our giving to put towards a current or urgent need that we find.  i think it's important to let the kids see how we give as family...and they should be part of that decision too . as we were talking, and eating chinese...come on, you know there would be eating...i open my fortune cookie.  and this is it!! i was out getting a few minutes of alone time and decided to pay hubs forward by getting jiffy lube to do the oil change.  while i was there, i remembered how hard it was being a single mom.  i remembered that the little things, like oil changes, suddenly became bigger things and honestly, more expensive things.  *light bulb!!!* thomas rang me up for my oil change and asked if they had any scheduled appointments that i could pay for.  he looked at me a little odd...

sadness

on the way home from DD {{bc apparently there was NO preschool today for jk...it's no prob, really...we just rushed around and scrambled and got in the car and then when we got there and there was no school...well, there were tears...thus DD}} , there came a moment of sincere sadness in my heart. jk: " mommy, i want to look like brookie" "why sweetie? you are the perfect jada" jk: "i don't like my brown skin. i want peach skin like brookie" i just sank. does that not make ur heart want to break? a 3 yo is struggling already with her skin being different. then, this happened: brooke: "jada, god made you and he loves you. he does it all right the very first time" then, i think my heart grew three sizes . jada threw a big smile up on her face and said, "ok. god loves me" now, if we all could just do that. god loves us...he doesn't make mistakes...he makes perfect works of art. sometimes there are scratches in the art.

tuesday tribute---for tuesday

go blog yourself has been on my reading list for quite sometime...and so i really came to love little tuesday whitt and her whole sweet fam and became involved in praying for them in tuesday's battle with that stinky neuroblastoma . tuesday's parents are totally amazing...they inspire me! although tuesday went to play with jesus not so long ago, there have been so many people that are changed because of the courage and strength and honesty of the whitt family. on the day of celebration of tuesday's life, a number of folks who couldn't make it out to the funeral, took their kids on a 'wagie ride', which was one of tuesday's fav things. we all posted up our pics...shared our experiences with each other...and hugged our kiddos a little tighter. my kiddos wagie ride is here . from that precious little tuesday and her honorary wagie ride, a blog spawned...of course...and it is dedicated to nothing more than, in their words, "to keep track of lives touc
