history

i love knowing where my family came from and the history behind things. ryan and i spent one trip out to the farm scannig pics form grandma e's album and asking the story behind them.

it was a blast. grandma is a great story teller and has the memory of an elephant...well, and she's stinking hilarious, so just listening to her wisdom is awesome.

grandma and grandpa e worked hard to instill a few things in their families lives...

...faith in the Lord
...patience
...kindness
...gentleness
...strength
...perseverance

as i type those things i notice that many are fruits of the spirit. i learned true happiness in watching grandma e live out her life...even still today, that woman will make lemonade when she gets lemons.

it reminds me that as a parent, i can never stop doing the hard things...the things that will mold my children. the praying with and for them. showing my children right from wrong, and me choosing to do the right from doing the wrong. it reminds me that my actions speak way louder than words ever do...and i want to leave a legacy of a faithful, loving, serving, honest and funny woman who loved her god, her husband and her family with all her heart.

man, that's a lot ot think about...i need some coffee.

Loved all the old photos, and you are so right. Wonderful to know your family history and know that Christ was and is the center of it.

I hope they still make amazing women like that these days.

I LOVED talking to my Grandma. She always had great lessons for me and even now that she's gone I'm still learning. I love your pictures!

I noticed people from the past (older folk) know how to appreciate life far greater than our generation.

Happy Weekend!

you're VERY BLESSED to know this. A lot of people ((including myself)) have no clue where they came from:-)

awesome pics and very wise words.
Yes, things like this always remind me that I need to be thankful for all the memories we gain from our grandparents. that is, except for my paternal grandparents. He has been a drunk for 55 years, and she makes "crazy" look... normal.
But, my hubby's grandparents? they are awesome!
What a wonderful post! I think you're doing a fantastic job.
