mirage?

the last few days have been great...we had our open house, we saw lots of family and friends and we ate lots and lots of junk food.

then, a few "reminders" of real life (and ministry) hit home and sunday night came...then a tough monday morning.  as i was driving, i see a sign...

surely that's not what i think it is.
no way.
is it?
oh, oh, it is!

then, the angels started to sing and the sun shone directly down on it...
and there it was!!!
la!!!!!!!!!

that fabulous green aproned barista made my venti bold with hazelnut and cream...
served it with a smile...
and i never left my car.
(pardon me while i get a tissue...i have a tear)

then, i see this...

and i say to this..."NO.  thank you!!!"

two starbucks.  one day...
now that is a great reward!!

When a drive-thru SB moved into our neighborhood my friend's son said "My dad said we're gonna have to burn that place down or we'll go broke!" I chuckled and he continued "My mom drinks a lot of starbucks!" Hee hee!

i am now so thirsty. and craving a pumpkin spice latte!!! i have to drive 30 minutes to get one!
sometimes it's just the thing to get you through the day.

I admit, for just coffee I am happy to stay at home and brew my own but I have tried so many non-fat lattes out there and Starbucks does do it the best. So, when they opened a drive thru on the way to work it was a wonderful little thing. I'm with ya there...........

Know what's even better than two "buck"s in one day? FREE "bucks"! Twice we've gone to pay at the good ol Starbucks drive through and lone and behold, the car in front of us had paid! What a great idea. It truly made our day so we've tried to pass on the smile too. Have a wonderful day..

As I sit hear drinking my own coffee that will never compare to Starbucks I'm rejoicing with you. Actually from my house there are 5 Starbucks within a 5 mile area. If I allowed myself to I would have it every day! Of course, then I'd weigh more then the car I used to get it in.
Right across the street from one of the Starbucks is a Jamba Juice. Oh the horror!

I don't drink coffee...but their strawberry frappaccino brings a tear to my eye too! And I don't know what they pay those people who work there...but the ones where I go...I swear they are the friendliest people on earth...maybe just smelling the smells in there puts you in a good mood!

Okay - now that I've totally stalked your blog for long enough (sorry, I had a LOT of catching up to do girl!) I think this is a great post to leave on. Two Starbucks in one day, seriously, I bet there will be free Starbucks in heaven, don't you think?! Ahhhh....good night.

tuesday tribute---for tuesday

random acts...GNO

over at GNO, there's a few of us who decided to challenge ourselves last week to perform a random act of kindness.   i talked with my girls and hubs about what we could do... we reserve some funds each month out of our giving to put towards a current or urgent need that we find.  i think it's important to let the kids see how we give as family...and they should be part of that decision too . as we were talking, and eating chinese...come on, you know there would be eating...i open my fortune cookie.  and this is it!! i was out getting a few minutes of alone time and decided to pay hubs forward by getting jiffy lube to do the oil change.  while i was there, i remembered how hard it was being a single mom.  i remembered that the little things, like oil changes, suddenly became bigger things and honestly, more expensive things.  *light bulb!!!* thomas rang me up for my oil change and asked if they had any scheduled appointments that i could pay for.  he looked at me a little odd......

A lesson in NOT BEING STUPID

What NOT to say to an adoptive family... Any of you all that know us know that we are an adoptive family...and for those that don't just look at our pic.  It will be obvious.  We are different sizes and shapes and colors.  That's why we call ourselves the "motley crew".  I know, pretty funny. Here's the deal...a few things that I don't need strangers to say to me, or tell me: 1.   I know that I'm white and my #3 daughter is brown.  I live with her.  Your revelation is not mine.   2.   Yes...some of my kids don't look like me.   3.   My kids have ears and are old enough to understand the stupid things you say.  So don't say "where's she from?"  I might have to kill you if you do.  Consider yourself warned. 4.   Just because an AA kid is adopted, doesn't mean they are from Africa.  Look around...here in the US we have AA people too. 5.   Don't ask me which of my kids are my REAL ones.  Clue...we are all real and so are you.....
