I don't usually take this blog to rant, mostly b/c i have so many t hings to be thankful and happy about.
but...
there's JK's adoption and it still not being final after 3 1/2 years. We have totally loved being foster parents...we've fostered more than 11 children (not including JK) and have learned and grown through each of them. We love foster care, so please don't misunderstand that. What I don't love is the adoption process through foster care. Here's a pictorial prepresentation of the time JK has still not been adopted.
This is me holding JK thevery first time...she was so precious...she was 10 days old. Couldn't you just eat her up?
And, this is us 3 1/2 years later...happy as can be with my #3!!
Ok. Back to my rant.
The adoption...or lack there of. No reason for it. All the paperwork is done. Judge is on board...has been for over 2 years. She has never spent a night in the home of her biological parents (sad), but visits with them still to this day because of us and our efforts to keep that connection open for he rin the future. Parental rights terminated and they signed papers for us to be her adoptive parents over 2 years ago.
Really?
So, I ask, what do you think the hold up is?
I have a constant reminder of her not being adopted...still a 'foster child' almost every day. Today, I have to renew my foster license...b/c we have a 'child' in our care. Ok, here's clue, State of Indiana...the child in my care is mine. Her name is not KDL but JKE. I am her Mom, Ryan is her Dad, PB and S are her sisters. We have been from the beginning...and although we are so grateful for her biological siblings and parents, we are the ones doing everyday life with her. We deserve...she deserves to be final.
JK starts preschool next month. You should hear the conversation with the director. I know her legal name is KDL, but she has been always JKE. I'm sure it's not confusing at all for her....no!!
Okay, I'm off the high horse...now, I ask two things of you. Please pray for us and for the finalization of this adoption (B's was 2 months...private adoption rocks!!!). Second, comment me for support. :)
"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
