A Thorn Among Roses

a few things me and the fam DID NOT do this week... brooke DID NOT have to go the ER saturday bc of a failed snowball fight involving neighborhood boys and a jump from the center island snow mountain. the bone is fine but b is NOT in a stabilizing brace to prevent injury and help her heal. on the way home from the hair night, paige DID NOT have a panic attack when she couldn't locate her phone...that was NOT in her back pocket. we DID NOT laugh really hard...and i DID NOT totally make fun of her the rest of the way home. hubs DID NOT lose it with the girlies not listening to him. i DID NOT get a little smiley knowing it wasn't just me, but sad that hubs had to feel the parenting grunt too. we DID NOT lose our sled in the last snow storm...paige and i DID NOT drive to 4 stores looking for a replacement. i DID NOT call 14 other stores with no luck. it is NOT a geographical oddity that new sleds are to be found anywhere here... we DID NOT cheer on our colts in the super bowl.....

i have this uber fascination with peeps who have ideas and just make them happen. well, jay at halftime lessons and a few of his other bloggy buds did just that! i love it! it's all about connecting businesses with bloggers...you know, not the big time bloggers, but us normal folks! it's called business 2 blogger ... and it's totally free...and if jay is involved, i'm certain there will be lots of fun and laughs along the way! so, i'm hooked as a preferred meember bc, well, let's be totally honest, i am not gonna sit by and watch the cool kids get cooler. i'm wayyyy too cool for that!

softball call out meeting was today at the high school... and so i can smell the brick dustin the air. ok, so we have been in year round travel all this time, but this is p's chance to make the varsity softball team...as a freshman. it will be hard. it will be a challenge. but she'll do her best...and it's all for the love of the game.

so when you think it's been a little quiet for too long, it has! sofia pulled a chair to the cabinet...pulled out the bread drawer. stepped up from that on the counter and grabbed a glass {yes, made of glass} out of the cabinet on started her way down... and this is where i enter the room...a whole 45 seconds after she had just left my side. but when you get stuck, you get stuck...and she was stuck, for sure! and a little ticked off, too! it's that time...i'm going crazy, but let the climbing begin.

one of the really funny things is that no matter whether your children are biological or not, they just become a like you...i see it all the time in my jada. the girl has some mad fashion style...which she totally gets from ryan. i do the hoodies and jeans, but mr. banana republic and jada are totally shopping buds. and then there's the coffee...while staying with grandma, jada drank "coffee". ok, so it's milk with a little coffee to make it look different, but she loves loves loves "coffee". hmmm...wonder if you know anyone else in this fam who adores coffee? and then there are things that i'm like..."yep, that's not us". especially when it's not the cute stuff...like when she gets her shoes on and this is what it looks like. {i know, right? makes your feet hurt!} ...only better that this is the "fixed" version. yep, that's definitely biological. {or that's what we're going with...come on, it makes me feel be...

i just remembered...i forgot to put sofia's bday shots up from her most fantastic cake eating extravaganza....i know. no lectures required. she was 2 on the 15th of jan...i realize it's february. i'm just trying to make the fun last longer. {wink wink} sof is a neat freak...just like her biggest sis, paige. has to have a napkin and does not like her hands dirty or clothing damp at all. so after she got the initial bite in, she said, "kap-kin. fork. pease." and again, she went on...eating. i'm thinking she really enjoyed being two...she has not quit singing "happy to me" and she running around doing the "two. two. two!!!" to anyone and everyone who will listen. you might be wondering...what did the rest of us eat? well, that's my diet plan. only buy enough for sofia and then i can't eat any! b and jk were less than thrilled...but paige ended up being more than satisfied with some left over sausage patties. teenagers and post ...
