haircut and WW

brooke's first hair cut was this week...and yes, i know she's 5 1/2. she grew hair very slow...and well, i'm cheap and not paying good money for a certificate and smile.

instead, i paid good money for a snipet of her hair and a 10 minute peep of strawberry shortcake. yep...very disappointing. {my first clue should have been the very, very sweet stylist with the 80's bangs and no style.}
miss 80's was going to have b walk out with her hair not even styled. grrr...after my suggestion of at leastplumping up her curls or braiding, she did a loose braid...

what u can't see is the uneven part and strands of hair flying all over the place. i guess i expect too much...but she looked better when she went in than when she left.
{who puts green hair ties in a girls hair??}

next time...a trip to my salon...same price...and the portable DVD player!

in the end, the trim was good...style was bad...
but it's done and a few mcdonald's fries can cure any of my pains!

I was at JcPenneys yesterday and as a treat for the girls, I took them to the salon. They've had hair cuts before- just a snip that usually cost me $5.00.

Yesterday's treat cost me FORTY bucks!! I was blown away. They just did a wet cut, trimming up the ends.

Suzie had a small braid put in the top along with some curls on the bottom. Graice had a little pony tail to pull her bangs back and a little bit of curling done. Definitely not $40 worth.

But we had a fun girls-day out, so I dont regret it too much. Next time I will ask how much the cut is first.

And I totally agree with you about the 80's chick. Always check out the hair stylist before you get a cut. If they dont look good, neither will you.

I used to go to one lady that cut and styled everyone's hair just like her hair. Not that is was a bad style, it was just her style.

I am very specific on who does hair in my house.. probably a little too bratty about it! haha.

Sorry you had such a awful time! She is cute regardless though.

Too bad she had a bad first haircut experience. I'm lucky - my boys are happy to let me cut their hair.

I want a pony to sit on while I'm getting my hair done :-)

Don't you hate that?! I had my daughters hair cut when she was maybe 5 also (at a salon though). I was the first to cut her hair though! I cut her bangs all the time and when I took her to the salon when she was 5, I notice mine was a much better job. At least mine are straight. What a rip off for the hair cute when they can't do a good job! Now it makes sense why it takes me so long to trust someone to do my own hair...lol!

The horse was cool. And you're right, I never go to a stylist with bad hair - a definite indication that she has no taste.

Yeah why dont we get ponies to sit on while we get our hair cut??

How sad! But the fries GOOD! :)

My first daughter grows hair very slow as well, and sadly enough her little sister is the same way. They have their dad's hair (who's is thin and very little there) and the boys have my hair (thick, thick, thick). My Mother in law has a beauty shop so we get all our hair cute for free. :)

That looks like such a cool salon for kids, too bad the service wasn't too good. It sounds like one place I went to for a haircut, where they nearly sent me out into the cold without drying my hair, let alone styling it. With the price of cuts, why wouldn't a person want it styled?

Hope your daughter didn't feel like she got shafted.

ASHLEY said...

OH, SORRY IT WAS'NT A GOOD EXPERIENCE.....DON'T WORRY, SHE STILL AS CUTE AS EVER!!!!!

BoufMom9 said...

OH no! Sorry it turned out so badly. That is why i don't go to those places either. UGH!

Hope you have a happy WW anyway :)

Too bad... that place looks like fun, though the 'stylist' does leave a little more to be desired.

Hmm perhaps you're right. Unfortunate! She looks adorable though :)

very adorable - and my daughter is 5 and a bit and I have never had her hair cut either - she was BALD until she was 3 years old!! Her hair is still so baby fine - I can't bare to cut it!
But - great shots!!

That kind of stinks! But....at least the trim part was good because that's the part you have to live with every day.

Kel said...

Oh I know what you mean...seriously why is it that a guy can go in and get a quick trim for like $5 and if we go in to get a quick trim (without a style) its like double??? If I'm gonna pay good money then I definitely want a good style too. Oh well, there is always next time!

What a bummer. I've found that my money is best spent at a regular salon where they actually blow dry and style their hair!

That is such a disappointment. My daughter never go to a hair salon for her haircut. I cut them and style them myself {glad to have the talent}. Cheaper and I don't have to strangle someone for a bad job! I'll cut Brooke anytime for free if you only lived close by...oh well...glad French fries makes you feel good :)

I've tried to get Sweet Pea's hair cut but she's still too little to bribe. lol! Your pictures of Brooke are so cute! Too bad the hairdresser didn't have much style!

this is why I cut my kids hair and save the money for mommy time at the spa!

j had ONE cut at one of those kid places...he's 4

Megan said...

Awww, disappointing! She's still cute as ever though!!

And yeah...if you're going to be cutting hair, ya need to look good yourself!

Meaghan said...

basically it sounds like everyone is saying only a retard would go to one of those kid places b/c we've ALL had bad experiences! how are they still in busuness!?!

I took my kids to my salon and just made certificates myself on the computer and had my stylist sign it. They gave me a lock of hair in an envelope and the kids got a suck and a nice do. But, the other day Stunt Man totally needed a cut & a place like that was the only place...I was nervous, but I have to say, that lady did an awesome job. But it is hit or miss for sure because my friends son got a hack job. LOL
She is adorable though & love the pictures.!

MuseSwings said...

Yep - the stylist's hair is like a beacon on a foggy night screaming stay away!

WheresMyAngels said...

That is the cutest place. We don't have anything like that around here.

My youngest is 5 and hasn't had a haircut yet, except for the two she's given herself. :-P

hmm that chain looks very familiar and the experience sounds like mine too. Except our trim was uneven. I had to even it out at home because it was so obvious. Hugs, Jen

Sounds like Miss 80's needs a new occupation! I'm glad the trim was good, at least.

CntryMomma said...

Ummm yeah, aren't hair stylists supposed to have great hair themselves? LOL

I hope you don't mind, I photo tagged you:

Jess refuses to get her hair cut anywhere else except for the salon I go to and it costs me anywhere from 15-25 just to get her hair cut. She is 10!! However. she always gets it cut in a different style. She knows what she want...as long as she's confident I can't ask for much more in my little girl.

Mandy said...

This had me laughing because I first looked at the pictures and thought that place is cool and then I read the post and saw the "beautician" and LOL! Yeah, I read somewhere, don't get your hair cut by someone you don't like THEIR hair...at least she didn't chop it making one side longer than the other, like I recently did....

CC said...

I'm hating it, but soon we will do a massive cut of my daughter's hair to donate. She hates the tangles in her hair and I figure if we have to cut it, then we might as well do it for a good cause. But I loooooove her gorgeous hair :( :(

What a cutie. Ugh..bad haircut issues are not my cup of tea. Especially when I have to chime in and direct. Hopefully the next one will be!!

with an adorable face like that, who's looking at her hair? (the hair is still cute too)

That is the best hairdressing chair EVER!

My boys would beg me to get haircuts if our hairdresser had one.

Heinous said...

I would switch barbers for a horsey chair. That rules.

jenn said...

I would have been mad too. She's adorable anyway, of course, but they should have at least tried to style it. I had Shiloh's hair cut at my salon and they did it for $10. No horsey chair, but that was okay.

I haven't had any luck with my son's hair. I had it done professionally once & by my MIL once. He moves around too much...but this last haircut...he has a rat tail behind his right ear! He won't let me NEAR it! He's just going to have to wear a hat until 8! I don't want to deal with haircuts... :)

Uh yea...I did Austin's first haircut at a place like that and we never went back. They had a birthday club that I assumed would maybe mean a free haircut or at least a good deal come birthday time. Again...no. I got a email letting me know that Austin hadn't been there for awhile and his birthday was a great time to come in and get a haircut so he could look sharp. Unbelievable!
