that's what it's all about

when paige was about 6, she decided to collect blankets for the homeless after realizing it was stinking cold in the midwest at winter. in typical paige form, she didn't just get a few blankets, she started a collection at school. i didn't even know she had done it (i know, mom of the year).

to my surprise, she brought home about 50 blankets over the period of two weeks. so in an effort to fulfill her vision, i called the AmVets and they came to collect them all and pass them along to those in need. (in hindsight, i wish we would have taken them downtown ourselves)

{{this is one of her recent self portraits...the empty shoe rack int he background cracks me up!}}
so, i learned that year from a little sweet girl the true meaning of christmas!

a charlie brown christmas rocks my stinking face off! it has been my fav christmas movie forever!  and as i watched tonight with paige, i remembered that little blanket girl from not so long ago.  and that, that for me lives out the true meaning of christmas!

I feel like I've been gone forever.
Your paige is so sweet.
I really think we can all learn for our children most of the time.
They are so innocent & sweet.
I hope your family is doing well & you are almost ready for christmas.

Seriously. Tears again!! So, you learned the meaning of Christmas from Paige... she must have learned a thing or two from you too!! What an amazing story!

I used to always have a box of granola bars in the car for snacks for the kids. If we drove by a homeless person, they always got the box. I love that now my kids are always asking if we have snacks in the car to pass out.

Kids are amazing!

I like the saying that goes something like, 'while we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about."

Cute Paige.

And cute Charlie Brown Christmas.

And I love the Christmas Vacation soundtrack you've got going on.
