time alone with paige this week was awesome...
with all the world brings teens, a girl needs to be with her momma and eat some good food.
and the best way we've found to spend special time with each of the girls is to have 'alone time' with each of them once a week. for paige, well, it was food and talk!
two words...HOT WINGS
and you can see how stinking excited she was the i took her pic in WINGS...she's such a teen
we ate...
then considered the grease (and were thankful we ordered salad too)
then i cursed the grease (even using my "momma's not kidding face")
we actually even ordered a sippy sip...
(in this fam, we always order water when we go out to save money)
and with it all came my fav erin k who was hostessing!! woot woot!
(she's one of my girls from HS ministry who has graduated...you can see that my mentoring is really doing amazing work!)
and in the end, we didn't solve the world's problems, but we had fun.
we talked. we laughed. we did mom and daughter together.
and i was fulfilled and reminded that my daughter is truly a gift from God.

November is National Adoption Awareness Month
research shows that 90% of americans support adoption and 64% have a personal connection with adoption. it's not that weird anymore!
adoption myths and realities...a must read...so take a look!
myth: there are very few babies placed for adoption each year.
reality: 20,000 or more babies are placed each year in the US for adoption, as many or more than the number of international adoptions yearly.
a great read for those who have adopted or are curious is
a great little mag called Adoptive Families.

i know the day is coming that my daughter is no longer going to let me take her pictures ANYTIME i ask her to smile...*sigh*...so i am going to enjoy it while it lasts....hey i earned the name Mamarazzi!!
Yep; I can see that silliness runs in your family, too. :P
Sounds like a great time with your daughter. My teen daughters and son ADORE going out for a special coffee for our one-on-one times. :)
i think it's really cool that you make an effort to spend alone time with your kids. there's no way i'd want to be a teenager today - it was hard enough when i did it twenty-something years ago!
YYYYYYYYYYUUUMMMMMMMMM.
I hope in the years to come when they are older we can still share in those special memories.
BTW I love me some wings
PS - I'm adopted. I have VERY strong feelings about being adopted (love it!) finding my birth mother (not going to!), and abortion (only in cases of rape/incest/danger to child/mama). Love your blog . . . I'll be back!
You'll have to explain how the whole "sippy cup" thing came about one of these days!
ps I had no idea it was National Adoption month. How crazy is that? You'd think I'd know that after adopting so many kids! LOL
Wow, I'm going to forward your info on National Adoption Awarness Month to my MIL and Mom. Thanks ;)
Come on over to my place. I got a surprise!
Having that special time with your kids is wonderful. \
Since my little ones came along, I dont take the boys out anymore. I need to get back to doing that. Thanks for reminding me
